Why You Shouldn’t Take Emergen C or Airborne: The Real Truth

October 9, 2019 by Anya Leave a Comment

As we enter into the fall and winter season, millions will take supplemental vitamin C for immunity and/or to fight off seasonal colds and flus.  However, almost all commercial brands of supplemental vitamin C use ascorbic acid as a vitamin C supplement in their products (ascorbic acid is a water-soluble synthetic vitamin C made from what is almost always GMO corn).  Use of ascorbic acid includes commercial juice manufacturers which often label their products “high in vitamin C” to entice customers.  The unfortunate truth is that this synthetic vitamin additive can do more harm than good!

Since vitamin C is essential for much more than fighting colds and flu’s, it is essential that you take vitamin C that does for your body what it should do.  And what should it do?  Vitamin C should act as an antioxidant (which blocks free radicals that contribute to early aging, cancer, arthritis and heart disease).  Vitamin C should also support natural production of collagen (an important protein used to keep skin, joints, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels healthy and youthful).  As you can see vitamin C is very essential!

Unfortunately, ascorbic acid is not only a man-made synthetic vitamin (which in general are usually not well absorbed by the body, as they are a foreign material) ascorbic acid also is dangerous to the body in several other ways…as scientific studies have shown.  A study (from the Jun 15, 2001 issue of Science) demonstrated that “synthetic vitamin C may contribute to the formation of genotoxins that can lead to cancer.”

Another study presented to the American Heart Association showed a relationship between consumption of only 500mg of synthetic vitamin C per day and thickening of the arteries (Los Angeles Times, March 3, 2000). Lastly, athletes taking 1000mg of vitamin C per day showed reduced endurance capacity possibly due to interference with antioxidant enzymes (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Jan 2008).

I’ve been taking this Vitamin C complex for a long time. This is the most meticulously sourced, high quality Vitamin C product on the market – find it here

Additionally, Take Elderberry Daily

Did you know that researchers found compounds in the elderberry could directly inhibit the flu virus’s entrance into cells and subsequent replication? Study here
