Even the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirms, “Frequently drinking sugar-sweetened beverages is associated with weight gain/obesity, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, kidney diseases, nonalcoholic liver disease, tooth decay and cavities, and gout, a type of arthritis.”

This might actually surprise you, but one large bottle of soda has the same amount of sugar as 6 doughnuts.
In fact, one 20-ounce bottle of cola has the equivalent of around 16 teaspoons of sugar. This large amount of sugar can cause your insulin to spike within 20 minutes of drinking it. In turn, your liver responds to this insulin intake by turning large amounts of sugar into fat, which makes you gain weight.
Additionally, high insulin levels cause most chronic disease, from diabetes to cancer.
