Most of us wear our bras all day – at work, at home, going out, exercising. We consider our bra a vital part of our everyday dress code. But aside from helping us look good and giving us support, have you ever thought about how your bra can affect your breast health?
Your Bra is Sabotaging Your Lymphatic System
Bras drastically inhibit your lymph drainage and increase the temperature of your breasts. In fact, women who wear a bra 24 hours a day are 125 times more likely to develop breast cancer than women who don’t wear a bra at all. In the “Bra and Breast Cancer Study,” it was found that women with breast cancer had a history of wearing tighter bras over longer periods of time than women who had not developed breast cancer.
Bras apply pressure to the breasts, specifically to the lymphatic system. Our lymphatic system contains over 100,000 miles of lymph vessels; it is vital for removing toxins and waste products as all of our tissues drain through the lymphatics.
So the restrictiveness of a bra – especially an underwire bra – can lead to a slow-moving lymphatic system and the storage of toxins in the area, potentially contributing to pain, tender lumps, cysts or cancer.
Does this mean we should stop wearing bras? Not necessarily. If you do choose to wear a bra, consider purchasing wireless organic bras. This will help a lot with circulation and lymph function. You can find something like this = here
