In the first group, Medicare/Medicaid covered the cost of 30% of fruits and vegetables, and the other group was getting fruits, vegetables, seafood, whole grains, plant oils, and other healthy foods.
The study concluded that individuals in these groups relied less on healthcare. This simple change can potentially prevent 3.28 million cardiovascular diseases, 620,000 deaths, 120,000 cases of diabetes–and save $100 billion.
