Did you know that over 97% of vitamins and supplements you are using contain toxic ingredients in them? Moreover, most of these supplements are being manufactured by big pharmaceutical companies. For instance, Centrum is made by the Pharma giant Wyeth, and Bayer HealthCare of aspirin fame makes the One A Day line. Unilever, Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline and other large pharmaceutical companies also produce supplements.
Are Your Vitamins and Supplements Tainted with GMOs?
Did you know that low quality supplements are filled with GMOs? It’s the dirty little secret of the supplement industry.
Most vitamins are loaded with genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), aspartame, aluminum, petroleum-derived artificial colors, and all sorts of other toxic additives that are literally poisonous to humans, and especially to children. In addition to all the other problems associated with GMOs these are shown to kill your gut bacteria.
GMO Fillers(unless listed):
- Modified food starch (corn)
- Corn starch
- Hydrogenated soybean oil
- Citric acid
- Lactic acid
- Xanthan gum
- Maltodextrin
- Soy lecithin
- GMO fed pork / beef gelatin
- Whey / egg white protein from GMO fed cattle / chickens
- Natural flavoring
- Ascorbyl palmitate
For example, Vitamin C is commonly derived from corn. We are all aware that 85% of corn grown is genetically-modified. So it’s pretty accurate to say that most vitamin C used in vitamin supplements is likely to be made from GMO corn.
Additionally, Vitamin E is usually derived from soy; and because most soy is GMO it’s likely the vitamin E is too. Soy is very problematic as it mimics estrogen in the body.

Stearic Acid and Magnesium Stearate
Over 90 % of all vitamin supplements contain magnesium stearate.
A study published in Immunology found that stearic acid could suppress the activity of our natural killer cells, T cells, which could lead “to a loss of membrane potential and ultimately cell function and viability.” Additionally, the stearic acid used to make the preservatives is usually taken from cottonseed, canola or palm oil which are sourced from GM crops.
Titanium dioxide
Titanium dioxide is often used as a colorant to give supplements and cosmetics a clean, white appearance. The research is now showing that exposure to this metal (along with other metals) can lead to problems with the immune function in the body. Titanium dioxide has recently been classified as an IARC Group 2B carcinogen ‘possibly carcinogen to humans.
Sodium Benzoate
People should realize that benzene has been linked to various cancers. Sodium benzoate can form benzene if it’s taken with ascorbic acid. Sodium benzoate has been found to damage cells and DNA.
Artificial colors
Artificial colors have been linked to many health issues such as cancer and hyperactivity in children. Many popular brands contain toxic coloring agents like FD&C Blue No. 2 Aluminum Lake and FD&C Red No. 40 Aluminum Lake, both of which are potential neurotoxins.
Other ingredients to avoid in vitamins and supplements
Other fillers to avoid in supplements: Methylcellulose, carnauba wax, silica, sorbitol, benzoic acid, sodium benzoate, gums, plasdone products, povidone, starch (corn), Sodium Starch Glycolate, Talc, Pregelatinized Starch, Croscarmellose, (anything with propyl or ethyl) Hydroxy Propyl Cellulose, Ethylcellulose, Crospovidone, Shellac, Propylene glycol, sodium laurly sulfate, laureth sulfate, Potassium Sorbate, acrylamides, yeast extract, glaze,
