Clorox, the brand name of the disinfectant wipes, claims that the wipes are made to be used on surfaces and can kill off 99% of viruses, bacteria, and germs. They sound great, don’t they? But are Clorox wipes really safe for your home or office?
What most people don’t know is Clorox wipes contain toxic “quaternary ammonium compounds”.
Called “quats”, these compounds have been found to irritate your eyes, lungs, and skin, as well as cause asthma and allergies. These compounds are often listed as “Alkyl C12-14”, “Alkyl C12-18”, or “n-Alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride.” Quats are also linked to reproductive problems.
A lot of the brands also use cancer-causing “orthophenylphenol”. Pre moistened wipes also contain parabens and formaldehyde which are used to stop bacteria from growing on surfaces.
