Forget dangerous, toxic chemicals that are harmful for you pets, children and the environment. The toxic ingredients in store bought ant products contain fipronil, avermectin, and indoxacarb all have the potential to affect the nervous system in humans. These ingredients have been known to cause weakness, tremors, or seizures. There are homemade natural solutions you can make using everyday household products to get rid of ants.
In fact, The Gardening Cook put five ant-killer remedies to the test and discovered that a mixture of borax, sugar, and water worked better as the store-bought ant killer products.
3-Ingredient Ant Killer
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 TBSP borax (find it here)
- 1/3 cup sugar
- Warm up your water then stir in the borax (here) and sugar.
Mix until completely dissolved.
Soak some cotton balls in it and put on a paper plate near the ants.
Use Peppermint Essential Oil

How to use:
Apply 5 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil on a cotton ball and place one in the infested areas. Change the cotton balls every two days until all the ants are gone.
