How to Make Non-Toxic, Long-Lasting, Natural Deodorant

August 17, 2018 by Anya 6 Comments

Unlike natural deodorants, most conventional deodorants are loaded with toxic ingredients that penetrate the skin fast a lot of health issues including cancer.  These deodorants contain aluminum which is used to block your sweat glands to  prevent sweating.  However, aluminum is a very toxic ingredient that, according to many recent studies, causes breast cancer. Additionally, it depletes calcium from your body and damages the endocrine and lymphatic systems.

Did you know that manufacturers often put 10-25 percent concentration of aluminum in deodorants because the FDA requires that all antiperspirants decrease the average person’s sweat by 20 percent? Believe it or not, it’s a whole lot of  toxic aluminum for just one product.

Also, by using  these antiperspirants you are preventing the toxins in your body from coming out in sweat. This is why we must stop using  these conventional deodorants.  I have found that homemade deodorants do a great job killing the bacteria and preventing odor. How to make your own natural deodorant that works

Why wheatgrass juice in this natural deodorant

Chlorophyll in wheatgrass (here)  makes this a TOP NOTCH DEODORANT. Chlorophyll is a great  neutralizer. It has a very calming effect.  Pure  baking soda can easily irritate the skin, but  adding  both the coconut oil and the Chlorophyll helps prevent the irritation caused by baking soda.

This natural  deodorant has maximum efficiency and long lasting. It leaves no stains on clothes.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup arrowroot powder here
5-6 Tbsp Coconut oil here

1 tbsp wheatgrass juice  (find it here)
10 drop of any essential oil (where to buy)

Directions

Mix baking soda,  coconut oil, and arrowroot powder  together until it gets a firm texture. Mix in essential oils and wheatgrass juice. Transfer to a container (with lid) and store in the fridge.

When do you add the wheat grass or do you ingest the wheat grass? I missed something and need guidance please.

Hi Donna! You add the wheatgrass to the recipe! It neutralizes the baking soda in the recipe making it less harsh

Thank you for all your research and information. I soak it up like a sponge! Unfortunately, I can’t take your advice about deodorant because my skin reacts to baking soda. Of course, I learned that the hard way after a very painful rash under my arms after trying homemade deodorant. It’s a bummer! Baking Soda replacement?

Hi Teri! Thank you so much for your kind words. I would try using arrowroot powder or any type of starch. But also if you add wheatgrass to a recipe it will neutralize baking soda.
