Echinacea has been used for centuries by Native Americans. Once Europeans settled in North America, they quickly accepted Echinacea it as a healing herb, recognizing its powerful immune boosting abilities.
Research finds that Echinacea extract may be beneficial in destroying such viruses as herpes and certain strains of influenza. In fact, studies have showed Echinacea’s effectiveness against bacterial and fungal infections. It helps reduce inflammation of the body. It can also be used for various skin problems, such as wounds, eczema, acne, boils and psoriasis.
A study published in Virology Journal found that echinacea extracts were able to block the replication of the influenza strains by over 99 percent. Additionally, no buildup of resistance was observed in the viruses.
