Adding to the concern, many perfumes also contain petroleum-derived compounds that increase oxidative stress and DNA damage. The danger isn’t just one ingredient — it’s the daily, cumulative exposure to a chemical cocktail applied to the skin and inhaled, often for years, without full ingredient disclosure or long-term safety testing.
Hormone Disruption and Thyroid Interference
