5 Frankincense Essential Oil Uses for the Immune System, Inflammation, Tumors and More

October 22, 2020 by Anya Leave a Comment

Frankincense, also known as olibanum, comes from trees in the Boswellia genus that are native to the Red Sea area. Did you know that frankincense was so precious during ancient times that it was literally worth its weight in gold? In fact, people refer to it as the “king of essential oils.”

The biochemical agents in these oils can easily pass through the blood-brain barrier, thus activating the limbic system, hypothalamus, pineal, and pituitary glands.

Frankincense essential oil can rejuvenate the skin, boost immunity when taken internally, or reduce stress and anxiety;  the range of health benefits that frankincense provides are nothing short of incredible.

There are a number of reasons to use this ancient oil

Helps with Cancer

Many studies have found that frankincense possesses anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects when tested in lab studies and on animals. Research finds that unlike chemo that kills both cancerous and non cancerous cell, frankincense targets only cancer cells and promotes the health and longevity among the neighboring non-cancerous cells.

Scientists in China looked at the anticancer effects of frankincense and myrrh oils on five tumor cells lines in a lab study. The results exhibited that human breast and skin cancer cell lines showed increased sensitivity to the combination of myrrh and frankincense essential oils. (source)

Helps with Inflammation

Studies conducted at the Cardiff University showed that frankincense inhibits the formation of inflammatory molecules and helps prevent the breakdown of cartilage tissue that can cause arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.  Simply mix a few drops of frankincense with coconut oil and rub into your hands for relief.

Helps with Stress

According to a 2008 study, mixing together frankincense, lavender, and bergamot improved anxiety, depression, and pain in people with terminal cancer.

Just mix 2 drops of oil diluted in melted coconut oil and rub onto your temples to relieve stress and anxiety.
